The design process proceeds along the following timeline :-
  • Initial Contact - you get in touch with me and tell me about the kind of website you want. You will need to supply me with information regarding the pages you want, your colour scheme (usually based on your logo, business card or brochures), and the images and text you want on each page. A handy checklist of things you should consider can be found here.

  • Secure your domain name - I prefer my clients to arrange their own domain name, but can help you with the process if necessary. Domain name costs vary, depending on the registrar you use, and the type of domain required. All domain name registrars provide much the same service, so it makes sense to go with the cheapest. At the time of writing, this was Ziphosting (www.ziphosting.com.au) which charges only $25 for 2 years for a ".com.au" domain name (you have to have a registered business to get ".com.au" domain name).

  • Send me your information - after going through the checklist put together all the information you want on your site, preferably in digital form (documents, images, logo, text, domain name) and send it to me, via email or on CD, or via post if you must.

  • Home Page prototype - I will either create an image which will demonstrate how your web page will look, or design a web page based on your specifications. The image or link to the web page (usually from my domain) will be emailed to you for your approval.

  • Initial Approval - we liaise back and forth until the design meets with your approval. This moment should not be arrived at lightly, as once the design is "locked in", any major changes to the design will be additional to the cost of the website, based upon my hourly rate.

  • Website Design - I create a complete website based on the approved design. This process should take no more than five working days, but could take longer for larger, more complex sites.

  • Final Approval - again we liaise back and forth until the design meets with your approval. At this stage, the changes discussed should be minor, as again, any major changes to the design will be additional to the cost of the website.

  • Your website goes live - after final approval, your website will be uploaded and be available for viewing world-wide within two days. Search engine submission then takes place, as well as email address creation and email re-direction if required.

  • Testing - once your site is live, you should check it thoroughly to make sure that everything works, including the menu system, all internal links, email links, forms, external links etc.

  • Happy client - when you are completely happy with the website, I send you my invoice.
